The words “Chao Yang” mean facing the sun. This symbolism comes from the phoenix who bows to the sun in the poem “Juan Ah” of the Zhou Dynasty “Da Ya” collection, from the Bok of Songs “Shi Jing”, the first collection of ancient Chinese Poetry. The sunward phoenix is a symbol of luck and good omen, representing good fortune and a bright, auspicious future. This is a wish of good luck to the descendants whose ancestors reside in the “Chao Yang” Pavilion.
Special Features:
From a Feng Shui perspective, Block F faces southeast. Block F faces the 39-foot high statue of the four-sided Guanyin Bodhisattva, bathed in Her light at every moment of the day. Shaded by great green foliage, Block F is 2-storeys high. From its spacious balcony, one can see a waterfall where one can admire the falling waters as if cleansing one’s soul. This is akin to the serenity one can feel at the lake in Jiangnan. The sounds of the water flow create a tranquility and clams the heart as one pays respects to those before us.
The design of the niche door panel is inspired by the white lotus flower. The pure white colour of the niche door panels creates an environment as if being engulfed by the light of Buddha, to remind the next generation that life is but a fleeting moment, hence to always show gratitude and be filial to loved ones.
