The words “San Shan” refer to the Three Virtues, which are “good words, good heart, and good deeds.” Block C’s name is inspired by the teaching of the Venerable Master Hsing Yun (one of the most influential of modern Taiwanese Buddhism).
Special Features:
Block C has two fronts: one facing the pedestrian street and one facing the lake. On both fronts, two drum-shaped bearing stones (baogushi) guard both sides of the entrance, enhancing the majesty of the building.
The design of the niche door panel is the Buddha cast in liuli crystal. Liuli is known as one of the Buddhist “seven treasures,” which is for eliminating disease and avoiding evil. The material is crystal clear and dazzling, and Buddhist scriptures describe liuli as one of the main building materials in the Pure Land of Buddhism.
