Shan Fu Court
Block M

The words “Shan Fu” mean pure goodness and good fortune – for as long as an individual continues to do good deeds, good fortune will naturally come. The departed souls who have chosen to reside in this pavilion remind their descendants to continue to do good deeds.

Special Features:

The most prominent feature in Block M is the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue that stands in front of the building. In Buddhist scriptures, Ksitigarbha vowed: “Before the hell is empty, I will not become Buddha,” showing the yearning for all living beings to be enlightened. This reminds the descendants to take Ksitigarbha as a moral compass: to always do good deeds that benefit others.

Confucianism encourages pragmatism, and avoidance of extravagance and waste. As such, a minimalist style is seen in the designs of the building and niche door panel, and is most suitable for those who prefer simplicity and intellectualism in life.
